This year, we were honoured to again have the incredible support of our national fundraiser - the Road Boss Rally (RBR). This car rally, with its community of generous entrants, has now raised a whopping $1.1 MILLION for GIVIT over the past five years. WOW!
This past year, due to devastating bushfires, the effects of COVID-19 felt across the country and a resulting increase in domestic and family violence, we're seeing a significant increase in people needing help, including many who've never needed to ask for help before. It's only thanks to generous support from organisations like Road Boss Rally, that GIVIT is able to keep meeting these critical needs.
The generous, fun-loving adventurers who make up the Road Boss Rally set off on their 2020 journey across outback southern Queensland. We're proud and grateful for the remarkable efforts of RBR this year - working with local communities to ensure their wishes were respected and all COVIDSafe guidelines followed. In a difficult year, we saw RBR rise to the challenge and go beyond.
What is the Road Boss Rally?
Dubbed “the Road Boss” for fearlessly taking participants where most rally organisers wouldn’t dare, Founder and Organiser Jamie Lawson said the rally travelled across some of the most challenging backroads across outback Australia. “The Road Boss Rally is unique compared with other charity car rallies,’’ Mr Lawson said. “With the permission of private property owners, we head off on some tough and challenging tracks. We don’t cruise the highways on the Road Boss Rally, we take the hard roads. It’s a safe rally, not a speed course but a huge challenge for drivers and navigators that’s also lots of fun while raising funds for GIVIT and supporting local communities.’’
