For organisations

You can request any goods or services you need for the people you support. This might include furniture, digital devices, bed linen, kitchen and household essentials or grocery and fuel vouchers. You can also request donations of time or skills through GIVIT, for example an educational tutor, someone to mow a lawn, or tradespeople to assist with repairs.  

There is no guarantee that requests for donations will be filled. Donation requests that are clearly written with plenty of anonymous information about the circumstances and reason for the request increase chances of requests being fulfilled.

It depends on the request, some requests are filled very quickly, and others take longer. We suggest allocating two weeks for a request to be fulfilled.

You will be given a login to our secure platform where you can list the needs of the people you support. If you are assisting a person that is need of donated goods or services, simply log in to the GIVIT portal and write a description of the request you are seeking. The more information about the circumstances and what’s needed the more likely it is that your request will be filled.  

You will be asked to choose a hardship category for the request, for example domestic and family violence or homelessness. No details about the person you are assisting should be shared to protect the safety and dignity of recipients of donated goods.  

Your donation will then be listed on the What’s Needed list on the GIVIT website for members of the public to browse and donate. If a member of the public has the item you’re looking for, GIVIT will connect you with the donor to arrange delivery or collection of the goods.  

Donors can also choose to donate funds to buy the goods requested. GIVIT will use 100% of donated funds to purchase those goods.

The Online Warehouse is a virtual warehouse of goods that have been pledged by public donors. You can browse what’s on offer and reserve goods for the people you support. If you reserve an item GIVIT will connect you with the donor to arrange delivery or collection.

The more information you supply, the more likely it is that your request is filled. Please supply clear information on what you’re looking for and where possible provide information about the circumstances or and reason for the request. 

No details about the person you are assisting will be shared to protect the safety and dignity of recipients of donated goods. 

To register with GIVIT your organisation should: 

• Support people in need in Australia; 
• Be registered with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission (ACNC) or the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations (ORIC) 

AND 

• Have up-to-date ACIC or ORIC reporting  

OR 

• Have an Australian Business Number (ABN) that denotes you are a government entity or government statutory authority. 

During natural disasters or emergencies GIVIT may grant short-term access to donations for community organisations assisting in recovery. In these circumstances: 

• Your organisations must have a not-for-profit purpose and; 
• Your application must include a local or state government referee to affirm your role in community recovery.  

GIVIT does not register animal charities, organisations that provide their support outside of Australia, or organisations that sell raffle donations.
