One Year On | Central West NSW Floods | GIVIT's Impact
In spring 2022, an extremely fast flooding event hit the towns of Eugowra, Forbes, Molong and Cudal in Central West New South Wales. One year on GIVIT is continuing to work with the NSW Government and support organisations to get people back on their feet.

People we've helped
Eugowra
Elderly couple Jan* and Steve* (names changed) lost all their household items in the floods. Steve has severe mobility issues and is currently in rehabilitation.
GIVIT provided new furniture, appliances and bedding. Among the most important items provided was a new laptop for Jan and Steve to stay in touch with family and health services.
GIVIT has also provided:
- Furniture, appliances and bedding for a recently widowed woman who is living in a caravan while her house is repaired,
- Toys, educational items, books and art supplies to the flood-impacted Eugowra Community Children's Centre, and
- Supplies to repair the iconic Eugowra Murals (video below).
Forbes
A single dad and his teenage daughter were living in a caravan after their rental unit on the Forbes River was inundated.
Forced to move multiple times already, GIVIT provided vouchers for food, petrol, clothes and kitchen items to make this tough time a little easier for the dad and his daughter.
GIVIT has also provided:
- A water system, trade services, vouchers for food, fuel, clothing and furniture for a woman who underwent major surgery while Forbes was flooded, and returned home from hospital to find her house devastated and,
- Food, fuel, clothing, appliances and furniture for an immune-compromised woman and her hearing-impaired family member who were living in a caravan during their recovery.
Molong
A family of four lost everything in the floods, followed by their home itself as it burned down due to water in the electrical system (image for illustrative purposes only).
GIVIT provided this family with groceries, fuel, clothing and furniture to help them with the mammoth task of getting back on their feet and rebuilding.
GIVIT has also:
- Provided vouchers for food and fuel for a mum of three who has lost work due to her place of employment being flooded,
- Covered the cost of children from a Molong school to attend a leadership trip to Sydney, and
- Provided vouchers to Molong IGA, distributed by a health service to flood-impacted locals to help them put Christmas lunch on the table.
