How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Queensland African Migrant Services (QAMS)

Working with Community-Based Organisation in order to transform talents, people and resources into social capital that will create Community Empowerment for Economic Development(CEED). Queensland Health - Ipswich Transition Care Team

Some of our elderly clients require much needed equipment post hospital that they do not have and cannot afford. The items they require are usually costly and these clients are all pensioners.

Queensland Pathways State College (QPSC) is a senior transition program for 15 to 17 year olds who face significant barriers in accessing mainstream education.
QPSC support our most vulnerable youth.
We actively identify, develop and facilitate clear pathways to post-school education, training or employment, while focusing on student-centred learning, student wellbeing, vocational development and community partnerships.

Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT) - Woolloongabba

The Queensland Program of Assistance to Survivors of Torture and Trauma (QPASTT) provides a range of services to people from refugee backgrounds, including asylum seekers, who have survived torture or war related trauma to help them to recover from their experiences. We do this by providing direct services to individuals and families in the form of counselling, advocacy, group work, psycho-education, information sessions and recreational programs. Direct services to clients are coupled with referral, training, community development and capacity building aimed at developing and strengthening the resources of various communities and service providers. We are a not-for-profit, community organisation working across Queensland.

Queensland Transcultural Mental Health Centre

The Queensland Transcultural Mental Health Centre is a specialist state-wide service that works to ensure people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds receive culturally responsive mental health care and support. They support the vulnerable population that comes from refugee and migrant background around mental health issues.

Queenslanders with Disability Network - QDN

Queenslanders with Disability Network (QDN) is a state-wide organisation of, by, and for people with diverse disability. All our work is focused on disability rights and advocacy.

QDN’s work is centred around a strong network of people across Queensland and almost 30 peer support groups which inform, connect, lead, and influence change. We believe there should be ‘nothing about us without us’.

We are a vibrant, active network of influencers, decision-makers, spokespeople, consultants, group members and peer leaders with a drive to make change happen. We also work on projects that align with our vision and mission around important issues in the lives of people with disability. We believe it’s important to work together with communities, services, business, industry and government to lead and influence change.

Queer Family Inc

Mission Statement

Queer Family aims to reduce social isolation and improve mental wellbeing through the creation of safe spaces for LGBTQIA+
people and allies to connect, build, and strengthen community in the Northern Rivers.

Quest For Life Foundation

The Quest for Life Foundation provides 5-day residential programs for people who've experienced trauma at its Centre in Bundanoon, NSW as well as workshops in rural, regional and remote Australia during and after natural disasters.

Quest sends teams into communities impacted by natural disasters and offers counselling, massage, group support and stress management techniques. Teams remain in communities for 1 week a month for 3-4 months and refer back to the Centre people who are suffering with post-traumatic stress (PTSD) for the longer in-depth program.

QuIHN - Bowen Hills

We provide clinical counselling and support to individuals who wish to address their drug use and/or any mental health concerns (dual diagnosis).

Counselling and support can also be provided to friends, family or carers of someone with substance use and/or mental health concerns.

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.

Alternatively, Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online offers 24/7 online chat counselling.
