How to get help through GIVIT

To access donated items or services through GIVIT, please connect with a support organisation registered with GIVIT that can assess your needs and provide assistance. This organisation can then place a request on GIVIT on your behalf. Click here for more information on how to get support through GIVIT.

Lifehouse Queensland Inc

Lifehouse Queensland is a charity located in the Gympie region.
Lifehouse Pregnancy Help Gympie operates a Centre and free service offering practical and emotional support for women and couples in the region experiencing challenges with a pregnancy, an unexpected pregnancy or a pregnancy loss.

We offer:
Free options information and counselling.
Free pregnancy loss counselling.
Online classes or in-centre classes in pregnancy, birth, parenting, relationship, life skills etc.
The opt-in Lifehouse Mums program which includes:
- Free counselling.
- Personalised mentoring, practical help and birth support with experienced mums trained as mentors.
- Free maternity and baby goods/needs.

We support our participants from whenever they make contact through to their exit of our program or when their baby turns 1.

Lifeline - Canberra

Lifeline Canberra exists to support people in crisis and save the lives of those experiencing thoughts of suicide. For over 47 years Lifeline Canberra has provided the Canberra community with 24/7 crisis support via our local 13 11 14 service. Lifeline Canberra crisis supporters are highly skilled volunteers who listen with care and acceptance, whatever the circumstances and provide support and information to people in need.

Lifeline Central West ( LLCW) provides crisis support through 131114. We have face to face financial counselling and problem gambling counselling as well as hold mental health first aid, suicide intervention, Domestic and family violence training. We are also doing some face to face crisis interventions. we work across regional and remote communities offering support.

Lighthouse Foundation

We provide homes and therapeutic care to children and young people impacted by long-term neglect, abuse and homelessness.
Our focus is to create caring communities where kids can feel safe, form meaningful relationships and heal from traumatic experiences.

Lightning Ridge Neighbourhood Centre

Generally we provide support and assistance to people in financial crisis including: Immediate financial assistance and/or Material support, such as: emergency relief vouchers, we also have the auspice "Food for families" project, which in some circumstances gives out food parcels from the food for family’s supplies.
Our organisation provides a cheap Community Technology Centre and library for use by the local community.

Lillian Howell Project Inc

The Lillian Howell Project (Lillian's), founded in 1988, is a specialist homelessness service providing medium to long term 24-hour, on-site gender specific supported housing for up to 13 young women and girls from the ages of 13 to 17 years.

Our approach is one that is underpinned by trauma informed care in a safe and secure setting that builds the capacity of the young women through modelling reliable and consistent behaviours. We pride ourselves in setting a benchmark in high quality, relational based care.

Lillian’s allows the young women and girls to re-establish trust and assuredness, supporting them to complete or further their education, gain employment and progress to independent living.

Over time, we have supported many young women - from those escaping family and domestic violence, to those who have experienced trauma, abuse and neglect - to heal, flourish and break the cycle of homelessness.

Lily House

Lily House is a supported accommodation services for young women and their infant children who may be homeless, escaping domestic violence or have recovered from addiction.

Lily House also focuses on young, pregnant women requiring assistance. We provide support enabling mums to give birth to their babies in a loving and save environment, aiding them to establish themselves in the community with the basic skills and support needed to raise a child.

Lily House is based on Christian values and a strength-based approach which aims to bring wholeness to women from all walks of life. The in-house program is holistic, person centered and focuses on mental, emotional, spiritual, social and physical health. We offer women the chance to improve their life and the lives of their children.

Lilydale Baptist Church - The Mustard Tree

The Mustard Tree Op Shop and Cafe is a community ministry of the Lilydale Baptist Church. The Mustard Tree offers comfort, care and community to all. Reaching out to the community with care and provision for physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Our foodbank offers groceries and household to those in need at no charge. We run a community lunch weekly that enables all to meet for a free meal and friendship. Our cafe strives to offer homecooked meals, coffee and cakes at an affordable price and our op shop not only provides to those in need but the proceeds all go back into our community care programs.

Domestic and family violence

If your life is in danger, call Triple Zero 000 for emergency assistance.

If you have experienced or are at risk of family and domestic violence and/or sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault, Family & Domestic Violence Counselling Line on 1800 RESPECT (1800 737 732). 1800 RESPECT is also contactable via text, online chat or video call and is available 24 hours.

 

Financial hardship

The National Debt Helpine provides free, independent and confidential financial counselling via phone or live chat, Monday to Friday. You can call them on 1800 007 007.

Mob Strong Debt Helpline is a free advice service about money matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They can be contacted on 1800 808 488, Monday to Friday.

 

Homelessness

If you’re experiencing or at risk of homelessness, you can find homeless shelters near you by searching on the Ask Izzy website.

Your state or territory government can also help. Listed below are the options by state or territory.

 

Mental health, depression or anxiety

If you or someone else’s life is in daanger, call Triple Zero 000.

You can access 24/7 crisis support by calling Lifeline on 13 11 14. You can also contact Lifeline via text or online chat.

You can talk to a counsellor 24/7 through Beyond Blue. You can also access brief counselling with Beyond Blue via online chat.

If you’re a young person aged 12-25, you can talk to a trained clinician, you can contact Headspace 7 days a week between 9am and 1pm by calling 1800 650 890 or via online chat.

 

For First Nations Australians

If you’re a First Nations Australian and you are going through a tough time, you can call 13YARN (13 92 76) to talk with an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander crisis supporter.

 

Children or young people experiencing hardship

Children and young people aged 5 – 25 can access support through Kids Helpline by calling 1800 55 1800 or through online chat 24/7.

 

For people living with disability

The Disability Gateway is an Australian Government service to help people with disability, their family, friends and carers find the support they need. They can be contacted on 1800 643 787, Monday to Friday.

 

For refugees and asylum seekers

If you’re a refugee or asylum seeker and you need help, you can contact the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre on 03 9326 6066 Monday to Friday for support.

 

For people struggling with addiction

The National Alcohol and Other Drug Hotline is a 24/7 service that provides free and confidential advice about alcohol and other drugs. You can call them on 1800 250 015.

Alternatively, Alcohol & Drug Counselling Online offers 24/7 online chat counselling.
